Apprentice Welder

Salary Range: £13,977.60 - £19,656 Per Annum

Norwich, NR2 4QE

Swarm Group is supporting David Utting Engineering with their search to find a Level 2 General Welder Apprentice. A Level 2 General Welder Apprenticeship will be provided by Swarm REAGIT alongside this position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Follow company rules and adhere to Health & Safety procedures and standards
  • Prepare, check and protect materials and work area ready for welding
  • Follow general workshop practices
  • Learn to tack and weld metal fabrications (MIG welding)
  • Uses of various welding techniques
  • Preparing materials and equipment for engineering processes
  • Operate, power saws, grinders and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools
  • Learn to read, understand and work with detailed engineering drawings

 

Working Week

Working hours will be from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week.

Training Information

Training will be with us Swarm REAGIT. The successful candidate will work towards the Level 2 General Welder Qualification, this apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete with assessments.

All apprentices taking part in the level 2 General Welder Standard will spend six weeks at the Swarm REAGIT centre in Norwich. During these six weeks of intensive training, the apprentice will develop basic skills in:

  • Health and Safety and workshop behaviours
  • Hand tools and traditional welding techniques
  • Working with and understanding technical documentation.
  • Welding skill development in 2 different welding processes (MIG, TIG or MMA)

The apprentice will then attend the site 1 day per week for 16 weeks to complete the technical element of the apprenticeship.
