A power station outage is a period when a power station is shut down, either for maintenance or due to an unexpected issue:

Forced outage: An unexpected shutdown due to equipment failure, a disruption in the fuel supply chain, or operator error.

Statutory outage: A scheduled shutdown for maintenance or testing, which is legally required. In the nuclear power industry, these are also known as turnaround (TAR) outages.

Planned outage: A scheduled shutdown for maintenance or testing.

Power station outages offer great opportunites for all trades to be engaged on a contract basis. Typically with shift work availableΒ  and enhanced rates of pay.
