What to expect:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technician to strengthen our technical support team and facilitate the company's ongoing growth and future expansion plans. This is a senior role within a highly experienced department. In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with our existing technical staff on cutting-edge quantum computing systems and support our engineers and scientists on installations, upgrades, and research projects.

What you'll be responsible for:

As a Senior Technician, you will be responsible for working alongside our technicians and scientists to build and commission the electrical and electronic aspects of our state of the art quantum systems. Additional responsibilities will include producing technical documentation and maintaining a tidy and safe lab and workshop environment. 

You will need to be able to take responsibility for tasks with minimal supervision and to possess experience in several of the following areas: electrical wiring, electronic knowledge, electrical fault finding experience, working from mechanical and electrical drawings, electronics, surface mount componentry, PCBs, mechanical assembly, and/or vacuum assembly.

The ideal candidate will bring a diverse set of experience with practical technical skills. Relevant qualifications would be considered an advantage, as well as prior experience working in industry or in a start up environment. 

Essential:

  • Relevant industrial operations experience (approx. 3 years)
  • Ability to assemble electronic subsystems, including fault finding (e.g. continuity testing)
  • Previous experience in the assembly of high precision and/or delicate parts
  • Experience working in an environment requiring personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Familiarity with testing high technology equipment prior to shipping

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of assembling and testing RF scientific instrumentation
