Mechanical Fitter

 

Job Role

 

Mechanical Fitter required. Our client is a well-established and growing manufacturer based in Wisbech.  The Mechanical Fitter works as part of a team within the Pneumatics division and has responsibility for fitting bulk blowing equipment to bespoke heavy goods vehicles and trailers including tipping gear, air trunking, hydraulic and electrical systems to comply with CE building regulations and vehicle type approval.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Complete the accurate assembly of appropriate bulk blowing equipment to heavy goods vehicles and trailers to customer build specifications 
  • Identify and request any additional components appropriately so that the relevant vehicle build is completed to customer specifications   
  • Ensure that all jobs issued are completed within the given timescales 
  • Accurately complete and return each job card issued in line with Type Approval regulations.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair of both contract and bulk blowing vehicles at the company site where requested
  • Verify all vehicles / trailers are put through and pass the build quality control process before being presented for final testing.
  • Check that COP and Type Approval standards are upheld at all times
  • Certify compliance with all aspects of the Health & Safety policy

 

 

Person Specification

 

  • Accurately mechanically fitting trailers with appropriate bulk blowing equipment
  • Ensure work area is kept clean & tidy.
  • Experience of hydraulic, pneumatic systems and their assembly
  • Proven ability to work off own initiative
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Physically fit – role requires job holder to regularly lift, bend, stretch and handle difficult and heavy items
  • Previous experience of building and maintaining pneumatic equipment
  • Adhere to H&S policy at all times.

 

 

Hours of Work and Pay

 

  • 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Mon to Thurs.
  • 7:00 am – 1:00 pm Friday.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Salary up to £16/hr
