NDT Level 2 Technician

*** NDT Level 2 Inspector - near Redditch ***

We are currently seeking a qualified NDT Level 2 Inspector to support a project on-site at our customer facility, based on the outskirts of Redditch. This is a hands-on role, processing and inspecting parts.

Responsibilities:

• Perform Level 2 Penetrant Testing (PT) and Visual Inspection operations in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions and customer requirements. 
• Carry out both water-washable and post-emulsifiable penetrant inspection processes. 
• Actively process and inspect production components throughout the NDT process. 
• Interpret and evaluate indications and inspection results against defined acceptance criteria. 
• Identify, record and communicate non-conforming conditions in accordance with applicable procedures. 
• Complete NDT inspection records and test reports accurately and in accordance with customer requirements. 
• Conduct required process control checks and system performance tests in accordance with approved procedures. 
• Ensure NDT equipment, process materials and associated facilities are suitable for use and maintained in accordance with requirements. 
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, inspection plans, job cards and applicable manufacturing or inspection documentation. 
• Ensure components are processed and inspected in accordance with production priorities and required turnaround times. 
• Maintain accurate work and inspection records, including relevant MRP/WIP transactions where required. 
• Follow all applicable EHS, quality, handling and non-conformance procedures. 
• Support weld inspection activities where required and within the individual's experience and approval. 

Skills and experience required:

• Fully qualified NDT Level 2 Inspector with current or recent EN4179 qualification in Penetrant Testing. 
• Demonstrable hands-on experience carrying out penetrant inspection in a production or manufacturing environment. 
• Practical experience of both water-washable and post-emulsifiable penetrant processes. 
• Strong knowledge of penetrant inspection techniques, process controls, defect identification and acceptance criteria. 
• Experience interpreting and evaluating relevant indications and making Level 2 inspection decisions in accordance with approved procedures. 
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, inspection specifications, work instructions and acceptance standards. 
• Experience completing NDT inspection documentation, reports and traceability records. 
• Good understanding of aerospace or similarly regulated manufacturing quality requirements. 
• Ability to work independently as a hands-on Level 2 Inspector while operating within approved procedures and the customer's written practice. 
• Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to inspection, documentation and product quality. 
• Good communication skills, particularly when reporting defects or non-conforming product. 
• Willingness and ability to work the required late shift: 16:30–02:00, Monday to Thursday. Day-shift candidates may also be considered. 

Optional skills:

• Previous weld inspection experience. 
• Experience inspecting welded aerospace or high-integrity components. 
• Experience within aerospace, defence, power generation or another highly regulated manufacturing environment. 
• Additional NDT qualifications or approvals would be advantageous.

The shift pattern for this role is:

• Mon - Thu 16:00 - 02:30am
• Fri 16:00 - 01:30am

Pay rates:

• £30 per hour 16:00 to 20:00 
• £36.00 per hour 20:00 to 2:30am (Mon - Thu) & 20:00 to 1:30am (Fri)
