Overview

 

Working as part of operations team and reporting to the site leader within the Technip FMC umbilical's facility, the NDT Operator is responsible for set up and testing of various parts utilizing a multitude of non destructive tests depending on the product type and manufacturing specifications and or customer specifications. The NDT Operator is qualified in the relevant NDT methods, able to operate without direct supervision in accordance with International, National standards and Element NDT procedures. The NDT Operator will also participate and contribute to a number of core business initiatives and policies including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Site Lead. Working with or without direct supervision under the guidance of a shift leader and to test parts using various NDT methods such as Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant testing & Magnetic Particle Testing as well as other advanced methods
  • Working as part of an NDT inspection team across 8-hour rotating shift patterns to test various parts
  • Working as a team under the direction of the Site Leader to ensure customer deadlines are met in a timely fashion including shared overtime where required
  • Working to implement and develop specific NDT techniques under the guidance of Company appointed Level 3 and Technical Managers
  • Working in accordance with Element testing procedures and written instructions, interpretation of national and international standards
  • Assisting and conducting routine quality checks of testing equipment in accordance with approved procedures
  • Working under guidance of Company appointed Level 3 and Technical Management to ensure continued professional development, certificate renewal / recertification and further qualification through structured training in multiple NDT methods
  • Attending daily SQDC meetings and contributing to overall Element fundamentals improvement via suggestion and implementation of initiativesParticipating in 5S initiatives and following good housekeeping practices
  • Adhering to Element safety and quality management systems and being and active participant in a strong safety and quality culture
  • Handling, processing, loading of radiographic film or CR IPs and operating radiographic darkrooms and processors including basic cleaning and preventative maintenance tasks and chemical replenishment.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified to PCN Level 2 in at least 2 methods such as Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Visual Inspection / CSWIP weld inspection 3.0
  • Desirable to be experienced or qualified to PCN Level 1/2 in radiography with welds or experienced as a radiographers assistant
  • Experience in testing of welds
  • At least 2-3 years relevant NDT experience
  • Experience working within an engineering and / or Laboratory environment
  • Good general standard of education particularly in English and Maths
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime where demand requires additional capacity
