ELECTRICIAN

Gates Power Transmission is part of a major international company specialising in the production of Power Transmission belts for the automotive and industrial markets.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we are looking for an ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individual to join our local Engineering team. Working full-time Monday - Friday in our Dumfries facility, you will be a Plant Electrician. This position provides support within a busy Manufacturing environment. Pay and Pension are above industry standards for this position.
Key responsibilities:
The work includes carrying out activities listed below with Health, Safety and Environmental considerations:
- Responsible for the electrical maintenance of our plant equipment and process machinery including PLC's and Electrical Drive Systems.
- Responsible for the electrical breakdown repairs of our plant equipment and process machinery including PLC's and Electrical Drive Systems, training will be provided.
- Be involved in assisting in training of the apprentices, following the logbook of the apprentice to cover every item and show best practice.
- Installation work (3 phase, single phase and containment) also including network cabling. Portable appliance testing.
ABOUT YOU
Required Experience:
- Educated to City & Guild or SVQ Level 3 (Electrical) and be a time-served electrician.
- Must be trained to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Ideally will have held a similar role within a Industrial Environment post qualification.
Required Skills:
- Determination, drive and wiliness to learn.
- Knowledge of Electrical Control and Electrical Drive systems
- Logical approach to fault finding and problem solving, with a focus on issue prevention.
- Be able to read Electrical Schematics.
- A working knowledge of PLC's is desirable, preferably Siemens or Beckhoff, training can also be provided.
