Babcock is looking for a Rigger Crane Operator to join the Dockyard team based in Devonport, Auckland.

 

About the role

 

Join our team at Babcock Defence, Marine New Zealand! Based in Devonport, Auckland, you’ll play a key role supporting the Royal New Zealand Navy. As a skilled Rigger and Crane Operator, you’ll enjoy a challenging, dynamic environment where safety and precision are paramount. Benefits

  • Full-time/40+ hours per week
  • Devonport based
  • $44ph (Trade Cert Essential)
  • 1.5x paid after 40hrs
  • 2x paid after 43hrs

About you

 

You are a reliable, safety-conscious professional with a thorough understanding of rigging and crane operations. A hands-on team player, you thrive under pressure and enjoy problem-solving. Your communication skills keep operations smooth, and your commitment to safety ensures every task is performed efficiently and securely. You bring technical expertise, flexibility, and an eagerness to support diverse dockyard operations.

 

Key Required Skills

 

  • Expert load slinging and rigging abilities.
  • Knowledge of cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Communication skills for effective team coordination.
  • Familiarity with dockyard operations.
  • Equipment maintenance and fault reporting.
  • Compliance with regulatory safety standards.
  • Precision in load documentation and planning.
  • Operation of forklifts, heavy trucks, and other machinery.

 

Key Required Qualifications

 

  • Qualified Rigger.
  • Mobile Crane Operator certification.
  • Tower Crane Operator certification.
  • Class 4 Driver’s License (desirable).
