The role
As a Rigger, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you’ll manufacture items to assist in keeping our world safe.


Day-to-day, you’ll carry out surveying, measuring, manufacturing, and testing rigging items.

 

 

  • Required to fit parafoils and safety nets onboard vessels.
  • Install halyards and dressing lines, operate winches and davits.
  • Use sewing machines and basic sail making. 
  • Ability to work on arrangement / isometric drawings.
  • Establish and execute lifting operations including complex and critical task operations.
  • Carry out rigging activities.

 

This position involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

 

Essential experience of the Rigger:

  • To have a sound understanding of the use of bottle screws, shackles, thimbles and blocks.
  • To be able to work at height.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
