Inspector / Non Destructive Tester

We are seeking a reliable Stores & Inspection Assistant to join our client, an electronics component company at their site near Thurston, Bury St Edmunds.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 34 work hours each week, from 9am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-4pm each Friday. The hourly rate is between £14.00-£15.00 per hour and this is a lovely chance to join a brilliant, friendly, busy and growing business.

The Company

Our client is a well-established business sourcing and supplying hard-to-find and obsolete electronic components for a wide range of markets, working to ISO 9001 standards. They’re a friendly team of around 10 and are ideally seeking somebody to join them for the long-term and become a much-valued member of their growing business.

The Job

As part of a small team, you’ll be working in a dual role – working in stores and on goods in and goods out, as well as inspecting parts and components for defects, and reporting on these as appropriate. This is a hands-on role, where you will be giving training to IDEA STD1010.

Duties involve:

  • Counting in stock manually and digitally, using the company’s stock management system to book goods in
  • Unpacking goods in, repacking and storing appropriately
  • Visual and digital quality inspection of parts and components, looking for defects, oxidisation, and counterfeit goods
  • Using test equipment as part of the quality inspection process, such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, microscopes, x-ray systems, AOI
  • Compiling reports of tests and product data
  • Packing orders ready for dispatch and organising shipping/courier collection
  • Working as part of a small team, maintaining good communication and liaising with the office when required.

Essential Requirements

The successful individual will need to be team-orientated and have good communication skills. They must be organised, proactive, and comfortable working to deadlines to ensure deliveries are on time and orders are processed to meet customer demand.

Other requirements:

  • Considerable experience in a similar shipping/stores/packing/quality inspection position is essential
  • Ideally, experience or an interest in electronics
  • Ideally, previous experience using inspection tools
  • The ability to work to deadlines and prioritise effectively with a proactive and organised approach
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong teamwork ethos – ability to work collaboratively
  • A friendly, professional attitude
  • Eligible to work in the UK with no visa restrictions
  • Living within a reasonably commutable distance from Thurston, Suffolk
  • Access to vehicle and own driving licence required due to rural location
