At our Sutton-in-Ashfield Service Centre, we are at the forefront of delivering world-class electro-mechanical repairs and overhauls for the UK Rail Sector – ensuring the reliability and safety of the trains that keep our country moving. From traction motors to auxiliary systems, our expertise keeps fleets operational, efficient, and on schedule.

 

We are looking for an experienced Winder/Fitter to join our skilled team, helping us continue to deliver exceptional service to our rail customers.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Dismantle, rewind, reassemble, and test single-phase, three-phase AC motors, small DC motors, and associated equipment including pumps and gearboxes
• Carry out incoming inspections for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions to set procedures
• Prepare and inspect all reusable parts for rewinding
• Operate specialised repair and testing equipment such as winding machines, test panels, surge testers, and core-loss testers
• Complete all job documentation, including photographs, accurately and on time

 

About you

• Recognised electrical engineering or electrical machine repair & rewinds apprenticeship (or equivalent)
• Proven experience dismantling, rewinding, assembling, and testing AC/DC motors
• Experience with a wide range of mechanical and electrical rotating equipment
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and commitment to quality
• A full UK driving licence is preferred
