About the Role

To complete a Joinery trade apprenticeship in a specified timeframe and gain on the job knowledge and experience. To develop and apply characteristics of the NCC agreed behaviours and values in all activities. To actively and effectively promote the Council’s vision, values, aims, objectives and priorities, putting our citizens first through the delivery of best value services

Key accountabilities:

To undertake on-site training alongside and under the supervision of a qualified Joiner in all aspects of joinery work, including;

  • Installation or repair of roof structures, floors, partitions, doors, windows, and stairs and second fix work such as door frames and skirting. 
  • Repair and total improvement work with flooring, fencing and shuttering. 
  • Installation of building components including door and window frames, door and hatch linings, floor joists and coverings, straight partitions, straight staircases, mouldings and ironmongery

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a team and individually.
  • The ability to demonstrate capacity to organise self/materials/tasks, use own initiative, prioritise workload and work to deadlines
  • The ability to understand measurements and carry out calculations including formulae
  • Good interpersonal skills - to listen and respond to instructions and questions clearly and logically
  • Is customer-focused and show a desire to deliver excellent customer service

When will my apprenticeship start? 

You will need to be available to commence your apprenticeship 1st September 2025 

Entry / eligibility requirements

  • You will need to be able to provide evidence of Maths and English qualifications at grade C/5 or above on request - Please ensure you specify these grades in your CV/ supporting statement. If you do not hold these qualifications already you must be willing to work towards completing functional skills level 2 in addition to the apprenticeship. If these certificates are not UK based please also provide the UK ENIC statement of comparability Statement of Comparability.
  • You must be willing and able to start work anywhere within the Nottingham City boundary for 8am, as required by the organisation  
  • Successful candidates must be committed to attend college in person at a location of NCC choosing to obtain the Joinery level 2 apprenticeship
  • Non-UK nationals must have been ordinarily resident in the UK  for at least three years, and not resident for the purposes of education, to be eligible for this role. 
  • You will need to be a minimum of 16 years old by August 31 2025. There is no upper age limit
  • You cannot hold a qualification of the same level and subject already 
  • To show commitment to gaining a driving license before completion of the apprenticeship
