Maintenance Electrician 

Location: University Hospital of North Durham 

Working Hours: 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

Contract: Full-time, permanent 

Job Title: internally known as Maintenance Engineer - Electrical

Your new role

About the role 

As a Maintenance Electrician with Robertson Facilities Management, you will work daily as part of a small site-based FM team and alongside client representatives, with responsibility for the provision of a comprehensive, high quality property maintenance service across University Hospital of North Durham. 

 

Your key responsibilities include: 

  • To ensure that the Facilities are maintained to the levels specified in the Performance Standards of the contract.
  • To undertake planned, responsive, and cyclical maintenance work 
  • To undertake maintenance duties in such a manner as to support the objectives of the client and with respect for the dignity and privacy of the client teams.
  • To ensure the safe operation of all plant, equipment, and tools
  • To operate at all times with safe working practices with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, Control of Infection, Waste Disposal etc in accordance with legislative requirements and policies and procedures of RFM.
  • To maintain asset histories, maintenance records and helpdesk reports, informing the RFM Electrical Engineering Manager and/or sub-contractors of any follow up action that may be required.
  • The successful applicant may be required to submit to Enhanced DBS background screening before starting in the job. 

 

About you 

We’re looking for skilled a Maintenance Electrician with experience in a buildings or facilities maintenance environment. You'll have extensive experience in planned and reactive maintenance tasks working within SLAs such as Time-to-fix, first-time-fix, etc. You'll have experience with all aspects of building services and systems electrical Testing (18th Edition Essential). Knowledge of Health and Safety, Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Working is essential, alongside excellent time management and organisation skills requiring minimum supervision.

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical, Engineering Equivalent to NVQ Level 4 Higher National Diploma, Modern Apprenticeship - Level 4.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Level 3 C&G 2391 Award in the Inspection, testing and verification of fixed wiring systems.
  • Level 3 Awards in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT)
  • Experience in electrical power distribution systems/lighting systems and fault finding and installation
  • Fixed Wire Testing
  • PAT Testing

Whilst on-call, you must be able to reach the hospital within 1 hour. A valid UK Driving Licence is preferable for this reason. 

 

The following training/memberships will be arranged by Robertson Facilities Management:

  • Abrasive wheel
  • Electrical inspection & testing (2391)
  • Asbestos Awareness.
