As part of our continued support to a major customer in the space industry, we are looking for an NDT Technician to contribute to the assembly and testing of world-class satellite components, you’ll ensure quality standards are met across a range of spacecraft manufacturing, assembly and testing activities.

 

The role will be based on-site at the customer’s facility in Stevenage. This is a contract position that has been deemed as inside IR35, the rate will be dependent on experience, seniority etc.

Responsibilities

As part of the Quality (NDT) team, your mission will involve:

  • Conducting Radiographic Inspection in compliance with the following standards:
    • EN4179 Non-Film Radiographic Inspection Accreditation
    • XRT0001: Welded Components
    • XRT0374: Realtime Radiator Panels
    • XRT0367: Plenum Chambers (Girth Weld Inspection)
  • Inspecting welded components against schematics and work instructions.
  • Producing detailed inspection reports and raising Occurrence/Non-Conformance on NCCAPA.
  • Supporting Engineering, ESM, and Quality teams on NDT-related topics.
  • Managing calibration, maintenance, and tracking of NDT equipment and logs.
  • Delivering mechanical parts that are NDT inspected, sanctioned, and compliant with quality standards.
  • Completion of inspections with adherence to quality and schedule.
  • Work order sign-offs and prompt reporting of anomalies or deviations.

Qualifications

  • Certification or experience in EN4179 or equivalent Radiographic Inspection.
  • Familiarity with radiographic inspection standards for components such as titanium and stainless steel pipework.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety standards.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively across teams.

Desired skills

Would be beneficial to have experience in the following: 

  • Spacecraft Production
  • Cleanliness and Contamination (ISO 9 Refresher)
  • Human Factors for Space
  • 100v Awareness, DIM Awareness, and 5S Practices

  • Due to the nature of the projects, candidates will hold or be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
