As a Project Engineer, you will be at the forefront of implementing new or modified processes and plant equipment, from initial design development to construction and handover. You will gain invaluable experience in project management, including design, planning, execution, and control of CAPEX and OPEX investments. Your role will involve close collaboration with the Continuous Improvement Leader, Reliability Lead, and Maintenance Manager, as well as liaising with the Global Capital Team and Operations Team to ensure seamless project execution and plant operations.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 

 

  • Creating and managing capital investment projects at the Newport Specialty Elastomers Plant
  • Plays a pivotal role in leading the implementation of new or modified processes and plant equipment, from initial design development and evaluation to construction and handover
  • Ensure all projects comply with Environmental Health and Safety requirements and within cost and time goals
  • Help the manufacturing plant with facility planning and design
  • Responsible for all project management activities related to CAPEX and OPEX investments, including project design, project planning, project execution and project control
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
  • Work closely on a daily basis with the Continuous Improvement Leader, Reliability Lead and Maintenance Manage
  • Scoping of productivity improvement projects including management of change activities 
  • Develop and execute the annual and 5 year Capital Plan
  • Work closely with the Global Capital Team to ensure the correct level of spend and control
  • Liaising with the Operations Team to agree any plant outages required to carry out Project work

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Engineering related degree / qualification or similar level of experience.
  • Proven project management experience, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
  • Proficient with basic computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office) .
  • Strong analytical & problem solving skills, with attention to detail. Demonstrated experience problem solving and troubleshooting on a variety of systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organisation and influence others without authority  
  • Understand equipment and general plant economic.
  • Ability to handle a breadth of work items across several areas and differing timescales.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and assist the business unit in prioritising work items.
  • Experience using safe systems of work (i.e. Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, Management of change).

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Commitment to safety and a proactive attitude toward maintaining a secure work environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other Computerised Maintenance Management Systems. (CMMS).
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to read P&ID, General Arrangement and detail drawings.
  • Awareness and general knowledge of controls, control systems and instrumentation
  • Able to create and work to a plan, delivering on time and to expectations.
  • Can work independently and drive team goals forward. Ability to conduct and lead meetings.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
