Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled QC Inspector with a mechanical background and NDT experience to join a leading engineering company working within the nuclear sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent role within a critical industry, ensuring quality standards are maintained across a variety of mechanical components and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality inspections on mechanical components, fabrications, and installations, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry standards.
- Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques such as MPI, DPI, UT (depending on qualifications).
- Review and verify documentation packs, including material certification, welding records, and inspection test plans.
- Carry out visual inspections and dimensional checks to ensure tolerances and specifications are met.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure quality issues are identified and resolved efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality assurance (QA), and site procedures.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate QA/QC records.
- Support internal and external audits and supplier inspections when required.
- Liaise with clients, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project delivery.
Essential Requirements:
Proven QC/QA Inspection experience within the nuclear industry.
Strong mechanical background, ideally apprenticeship-trained or equivalent.
NDT qualifications (MPI, DPI, UT or similar).
Experience reviewing technical documentation and performing final release inspections.
Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture, quality standards (ISO 9001, ASME, etc.), and site procedures.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Desirable:
- PCN/CSWIP certification would be advantageous.
- Previous experience working on nuclear new build, decommissioning, or plant life extension projects.
- Knowledge of welding processes and material properties in a regulated environment.
